Last But Not Least

The semester is winding down, and I can't say that I'm sad to see it go. It isn't that I didn't enjoy my classes, but I think it will be nice to have a break for a little bit. One more week of stress, then a brief period of relaxation.

For the last week of class I've decided to make this week "Elvis Week." The real Elvis week actually falls in August, but I've decided to do it now. Sue me.

Elvis was pretty much a legend, but that goes without saying. There are a lot of people with different opinions about his work. Some say he was washed up, some say he went out in his prime. No matter what you believe (which is your own opinion) there's no doubting that he's a legend. There's a reason they call him "The King of Rock 'n' Roll," right?

So this week I'm going to talk about Elvis, his career, music, and maybe even some movies. I think it's appropriate to end off the semester with his work, to go out on a good note, figuratively speaking.

  1. I agree with you on the relaxation part. I'm ready to get this semester over with! But I'm sort of indifferent to Elvis.. some of his stuff I like, but I think that it was really the time period that he was in that made him so popular since he made such a big statement. But that is why he became so popular, so I cannot deny that he was a legend.. but it's almost with people like Lady Gaga now, they do something people wouldn't think of and think to be sort of scandalous and do the unthinkable. Not saying that these people aren't important or good, they just spark controversy and get attention.

  2. I totally agree with you about not being sad that it is the end of the semester! I have been going crazy this semester! I actually enjoyed this blog though and being able to read through everyone else' interests. A brief period of relaxation will be nice and well deserved!

  3. Shelly: I respect your opinion of Elvis. Everyone has different feelings towards him, and I can understand what you mean about him doing something unthinkable, and getting some attention for it. I like his voice though, and I think Rock 'n' Roll would be different without him. But I agree with what you're saying. And yes, I'm so glad the semester is over. A weight off my shoulders. :)

Robert: I shake my head at you, sir.

Lauren: I enjoyed being able to read everyone's blogs too. I seriously hope some people keep writing, they're interesting to read. Have a good, relaxing break!
